**Understanding Ball Mill Capacity: How to Calculate Tons**

The volume of the grinding media is calculated based on the percentage filling of the drum. This percentage is determined by dividing the weight of the grinding media by the total weight of the drum and its contents:

Percentage filling = (Weight of grinding media / Weight of drum and contents) × 100

Once we have the grinding media fraction, we can calculate the tons of material that can be processed in the ball mill:

Tons = Capacity (in cubic feet) × Grinding media fraction × Bulk density of the material

Here, the capacity is the volume of the drum in cubic feet.
